Functional. Plenty space as an everyday Carryall bag
It took me a long time to finally pick the Dumpling Bag among the other styles I was considering, and I am happy with my choice. I was looking for a carryall bag for traveling — something that I can wear while walking around a city, something that looks good (but not too ostentatious), provides good storage space (but is not too big like a tote), and allows me to wear it crossbody style. The Dumpling Small serves this purpose well. I provided a few pictures showing the daily items I want to carry, and despite being a small size, the Dumpling Bag can fit them all.
When picking out a carryall bag, I was choosing between the Dumpling Satchel, the Knott Carryall Bag, and the Thompson Street Satchel. At the same time, I was deciding between the large and small sizes for those designs. I went to the store several times to try them all out and finally decided that the Dumpling Small Satchel was the best choice for me.
Here are the features I compared: the look, the compartmentation, and the button/zipper features.
The look: Compared to the other two styles, I personally think the Dumpling is more casual and cute, which suits my needs better. I also like that the Dumpling looks more “compact,” which is the kind of bag I did not already have.
The button/zipper features: This was honestly the main factor that made me choose the Dumpling or Knott over the Thompson Street Satchel. I like the magnetic snaps that the Knott and Dumpling have for their pockets, so I can “close” my bag without leaving everything exposed.
Compartmentation: To be fair, all three styles I looked at provide good compartmentation, just in different ways, each with its own pros and cons. For example, the zipper pocket on the Knott is wider at the bottom, so it provides more storage space, while the Dumpling’s zipper pocket is fairly thin, so I do not think it can hold much. The Dumpling and Knott were the hardest for me to choose between. In the end, I decided that I preferred the Dumpling for a smaller bag and the Knott for a larger one.
