This dress is perfect for early autumn in Nova Scotia and late autumn in Alabama. It can be worn with a lightweight black turtleneck for a little extra warmth. I like the fit of this dress much better than the fit of the other Blaire dresses which run a little short-wasted on me. I opted for the SM even though it's a little roomy through the bust. I'm 5' 2" so it hits about mid calf on me but the flow of the skirt makes that length really flattering.
